If you’re planning a new nursery or thinking of redesigning your child’s room…this is the post for you! Olioboard put together a little Monday Fun-day and invited ten bloggers to create their favorite child’s room or nursery.
I’m teaching a Leisure Design Course at LSU this summer, and in our first class this week, we talked about design beginning with inspiration. One student asked in which order they should select things. For me, I try to leave my mind open to what I’m drawn to for that particular project, but usually I start to look at COLOR first. What mood am I trying to evoke? What color combinations do I want to use?
For this nursery, I knew I wanted a sophisticated look, and it was important for the look to “grow” with the child. I certainly didn’t want the client ripping off “tractor” border in 5 years! Can anyone relate?
I have created “sets” in Olioboard that are like folders. They save a lot of time if you add things you like as you go. The first thing I found that caught my attention was this fabulous chest of drawers! The next thing that caught my eye was the navy striped pendant…so this is where my project began! To keep the feel soothing and sophisticated, I opted for a monochromatic color scheme. Did you notice the different shades of blue?
