From the Dinner Table to a Pool Table

I’m gearing up for  Highpoint Furniture Market in a few weeks! New product introductions are hitting my mailbox (email-box that is) and there is one in particular that caught my eye. Fusion Tables created a multipurpose product that goes from dining table to pool table in seconds…now that is brilliant!

The billiard tables are available in metal or wood as well as a variety of felt colors.

Let’s get this party started!

5 Favorite Showrooms From Market

“To the Trade”. Have you heard that term? Well, one of the places designers go to find exclusive furniture & accessories is Furniture Market in Highpoint, North Carolina. Many of the factories are located  in this city, and for one week the entire town turns into a shopping mecca! There are over 2,000 exibitors & 10 million square feet of showspace…yes, you heard me right. You will see the most flats (shoes) on chicks in the history of fashion.

Last week was definitely stimulation overload! From photos and book signings with Mary McDonald & Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Million Dollar Decorators, to an invitation for an Architectural Digest party. I didn’t want to come home!

Let me introduce you to Global Views. They take the cake when it comes to merchandising & products. They are on trend and their showroom is always packed out. You don’t even know how many people I had to shoo out the space. (‘sckooze me m’am, I’m trying to get the perfect shot for my blog….) As for color trends, grey was everywhere and turquoise & lime is still hot, hot, hot!

Pearson has been around for many decades, but boy have they made a major design shift in the last few years! There are some really glamourous things coming out of this factory & my jaw drops every time I see a new occasional piece.

Which is your favorite out of these 5 showrooms?

Hot Off the Press – Arteriors

I still get excited when UPS or FedEx comes, hoping it will be a package for me! Perhaps a coffee table book from Amazon (I should buy stock now that I think about it) or a new manufacturer catalog. (even though this is my job, it still falls under the  shopping category) Yesterday’s arrival was the Summer Supplement from Arteriors. They carry a wide variety of lighting, accessories, and even furniture.

Check out a few of my fav’s:

Below is the Noah Snow Marble Lamp, and the height is 32 1/2″. Why is this important? A majority of the time, lamps they sell at local retailers are just too small in scale for living rooms. Lamps are priced according to their quality and just as important,  their size. When you import from overseas, every square inch counts. You may be seeing this one in a future project!

This Norris Gray Glass lamp comes with a silk sheer shade…mmmm….luxury

The Norman floor lamp is available brushed nickel or vintage brass.

Tuft Love

Tufting today is more for visual interest than practicality, but it was originally created to secure cushioning to the backs and seats of upholstered furniture. Tufting adds dimension and drama, and is used in traditional applications to glamorous Hollywood Regency styles. There is nothing tuft to love about these pieces!

Emerson et Cie

I was meeting with a furniture rep last week and almost turned down the opportunity to view one of his product lines, Emerson et Cie. In the past, they were known for a very traditional look, but he informed me they were beginning to incorporate transitional pieces. The first two pieces are from April’s market introductions, and I can definitely see myself incorporating anything with this brass hardware in my projects!

Mid-Century style Rutherford Chest with Reverse Painted and Silver Leafed Top

Rutherford Desk with Reverse Painted and Silver Leafed Top

Did you notice the glamorous detail on their tops? Eglomise, a process in which the back side of glass is gilded with gold or metal leaf, is very prevalant right now in furniture design.

Broderick Rosewood Side Chair (there is also a barstool version)

Available in barstool and counter height

Who couldn’t use a little swank in their life? I love these modern wing back chairs, but if I chose the white fabric, my dogs and husband would be banned for life!

Pietro Chair

And speaking of swank, Tobi Fairley and Swank Lighting have teamed up for a fabulous giveaway. I really didn’t want to mention it because it would reduce my chances of winning, but I guess I’m feeling generous. If you love these Murano glass lamps as much as I do, click here for details…I hope I win!
